It Ends with Us 2/Reminders of Him 2

Do you believe in 100 years, this novel will be considered a "classic"?  Will it stand the test of time and be something that students will be reading in an English class of the future?  Why or why not?

  1. I don't know if this will stand the test of time and be considered a classic in 100 years. It goes over very important topics and is something that I think people should read but Colleen Hoover is very popular right now but I cant tell you if I see her book being the new to kill a mocking bird. I think the story will always be relevant but I dont know that in the future it would be a book you would read for a class. It is targeted more towards the female audience and the male in our group didnt enjoy reading it. I would recommend it to anyone and everyone but I know that most males wouldnt want to read this romance book. That doesnt go for every male though. I loved this book and I would love for it to be a book that is considered a classic in the future. It is filled with ups and downs and a lot of plot twists and forgiveness. She says in the book that it took her 15 minutes to completely change her perspective of someone and it only took me 30 seconds after reading what he did to want to set his house on fire. Your actions have consequences and I dont feel that it was served in this book. I would love for this to be a classic in the future but I dont know if I would recommend it necessarily for a English class.

    1. I agree; the book serves more an entertaining piece rather than a profound, discussion-based piece. The book is popular right now, but I do not think its fame will extend into the next five years, even. Also, it's true the book tries to appeal to a certain audience. It feels like the author is trying to reach a certain audience that doesn't resonate with everyone.

    2. That is so true while its a deep meaningful storyline it wont appeal to everyone. Maybe this book will still be read and thought of in 10 plus years It wont be complex enough to defy a lot.

    3. I totally agree with you. This book was very interesting, and I loved reading it, but I don't think it will be considered a classic because it is targeted towards a specific audience. I think many people will still be reading this book in few years, but I don't think it will be considered a classic.

  2. I don't believe this book could be considered a "classic" someday while it is a phenomenal read and a moving story this book doesn't exactly appeal to all. When I think of "timeless" books like The Great Gatsby or How To Kill a Mockingbird they sound like books that could have taken years to write for me perfecting every detail and making the reader really think. With It Ends With Us I just don't get that same image or view in my head. This book no matter how great is just another of those newest books about a romance that also happen to include a sensitive subject. I feel to have this book truly be a classic it might have to be more complex.

    1. I agree; the book does not seem to be perfected. There are a lot of unnecessary details that are in there just to service the audience. The book beings up an important message, but it isn't explained in enough depth to deeply impact the reader.

    2. I agree. This book was a very fast read for me and I was never was bored with it. It at some points was impossible to put down. I would recommend it to people but I dont think that it will be considered a classic. It has a important message that is timeless and gives you a whole new prospective on abusive relationships but I dont think this will be a classic book that will be taught about in a english class someday.

    3. I agree with you. This book was a great read and i often couldn't put it down, but I don't think it will be considered a classic. It is targeted to a specific audience and might not appeal to everyone.

    4. I agree that there isn't much that makes this book stand out from any other romance novel. It has a meaningful lesson in it, but it definitely does not target all audiences.

  3. No. There are many ways a book could become a classic, and I do not think that this book is up to any of those standards.
A book could become a classic because it defines the era's culture. For example, Jane Austen novels are so beloved because they help transport people to the past and live in the world of 1820's England. Although this book contains elements of modern day, I do not think it correctly represents what everyday life is like for 2020's Americans.
Another way for a book to become a classic is by brilliantly portraying a profound concept. This book deals with issues on domestic abuse. I enjoy how the author illustrates that theme, but I do not think it is written in such an ingenious way as to become a classic.

    1. I agree with everything but the fact that this book doesnt accurately represent 2020's americans. I thought this book was very relevant to the times that we are in. Around here obviously we cant relate to the things in Boston but I think that I could relate to Lily. She was younger and I really liked the journals because they were in the prospective of someone that is 15. It may just be that Im also 15 but I thought it was pretty relevant and I thought it was pretty easy to relate to.

    1. Andrew is right the fact that he considers it just another book means none of the relationships portrayed in this book went beyond extraordinary. In classic books the thought of them is extraordinary and this just isn't that it's considered just good.

  5. I really enjoyed reading this book although I don't think it will be considered a classic. I think this book can relate to many people with the aspect of abusive relationships, therefore I think many people will be reading this book for a few years because it does have a good lesson and it can help young spouses in a significant way. I don't think this book will be a classic we read in English class because although some people can relate to Lily, it's also just another romance novel and not everyone has an interest in romance. I would recommend this book to anyone because I loved it so much, but I don't think it would appeal to all readers.

    1. I agree the book has a great lesson. I also think it was a very good book, but not all audiences would prefer to read a book like this. Some people could relate to events in this book but not everyone, which I think is why it would just be better read by yourself and not read in English class.

    2. I do agree that it has a targeted audience and may not appeal to everyone, but I think it teaches a good lesson for anyone, even if they do not experience a situation like Lily's.

  6. Although the book was really good it will probably not be considered a classic. Yes, it does relate too a lot of people and I would recommend the book but I don't thinks its worthy to be considered a classic. Its kind of just another romance book and you can find those practically anywhere.

    1. I agree. This book was very good, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone that asked me about it, but again it was sort of just any other romance novel, and not a classic that people would read in English class.

    2. I agree with this. The romance genre is very overpopulated with all similar types of books so I think this one could just get lost in the hundreds of others like it.

  7. This book was very enjoyable and an interesting read, but no I don't think it will be considered a classic in the future. I think more females would enjoy reading this rather them men. I think it has a lot of ups and downs, and topics in the book that many people can relate to such as young love, single moms, domestic violence, but considering other classic novels, I feel this would just be a great relatable romance book. I think this book is very entertaining but having an in-depth conversation with an English class in the future, I don't think I could see that happening, compared to ones we read today like To Kill a Mockingbird.

    1. I agree that this book would appeal to more females than males. The topics covered are generally more geared towards women as the main plot focuses around a girl.

  8. I think that maybe this could be a classic, just because of the lesson it puts out there. It teaches you that you never really know what you would do unless you were actually faced with the situation. It teaches you not to judge others on their decisions on really any topic unless you have experienced it yourself because you never know what they are really going through. Although it teaches a good lesson, it might be a little mature for some audiences.

  9. I don't believe this book will be a classic. It seems like a very standard romance novel in my eyes. Like I would be able to go and find 10 other romance books who match the impact this one does. There's nothing extraordinary about it, no deep intellectual meaning or lesson that classic books need. I don't think it will be read in English classes, but I do think future students who are interested in romance stories would like this one.

  10. I don't think this book has a chance of becoming a classic because the story was just not that compelling to me. The time jump was an interesting concept but I felt like Lily's actions were overplayed. There was a twist at the end but don't think that that will be enough for this book to be remembered.
